Are You Ignoring Me?

Have any of these things ever happened to you?

Someone takes forever to answer your email or text, if they answer at all.
You’re taken for granted by someone you’ve worked hard to please.
You race to meet someone on time…and the person no-shows.

The thing about purposefully ignoring someone is its rude, inconsiderate, cruel, petty & qualifies as abuse. & although you cannot control other people, you can control your emotional response to feeling ignored.

People Use the Silent Treatment bc:

They want to hurt you or punish you
Too selfish to care about what your feelings are
They don’t respect you.
Their feelings are hurt and they dont care to communicate that
They’re not getting what they want, and don’t see why they should compromise.
They’re distracted by something else, like problems at home or work
Fear.

If someone is purposefully trying to hurt you through the silent treatment, they might enjoy your negative reaction. Remember, this is abuse. Don’t keep begging them to talk to you.

There are also many consequences to the silent treatment

It causes emotional trauma or stress. There are many emotions that can be triggered including: depression, anger, frustration, restlessness, isolation, rejection, guilt, loneliness, despair, betrayal and/or bitterness.

It may have serious physical side-effects. When someone is ignored, their brain tells them they are in physical pain. Less serious symptoms could include anything from headaches, diarrhea, constipation, stomach pains, insomnia, anxiety, and fatigue.

It can cause behavioral changes. Ie: you questioning youself. What am I doing wrong? Is something wrong with me? Was it something I said? Am I too annoying?

What u can do:
Stay calm
Make Sure That The Person Is Really Ignoring You
Give The Person Space
Reflect on your recent actions
Talk privately + Make sure the other person knows that you care about them, and you’ll be ready to listen when they’re ready to talk
Apologize If Necessary
Think About Why The Person Could Be Mad At You
